Get to Know the Friendly Faces Behind the Curtain

Meet the Husband & Wife Duo

Founders, Visionaries, and Faithful Believers

Pat Brewer, M.Ed.

Founder & Director

Pat is the heart behind Brewer Testing.

With a Master’s Degree in Education from UNC Chapel Hill, she has over 22 years of experience in education, including 14 years as a classroom teacher and 8 years as a Curriculum & Testing Coordinator in North Carolina’s Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.

She later transitioned to homeschooling her youngest son, now an adult, gaining firsthand insight into the needs of homeschoolers.

During her time in the classroom and as a homeschool parent, she specialized in curriculum development, assessment, and individualized instruction, particularly in grades K-5.

Pat has served on the board of Forsyth Home Educators, coordinated database and newsletter functions with her husband, and volunteered extensively in the homeschool community. She is active in their church and the Shriners organization, dedicating her time to serving others.

She lives in East Bend, NC, with her husband and two dogs.

Dempsey Brewer, M.S.E.

Co-Founder and Business Operations

Dempsey has been instrumental in shaping Brewer Testing, bringing his business expertise, technical skills, and leadership to the company.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering from N.C. State University, with a strong background in business management, technology, and operations.

Beyond his work in education, Dempsey has always been deeply involved in public service and community leadership. In 2014, he ran for the North Carolina State Senate to represent Yadkin County and parts of Forsyth County.

He has volunteered at the local fire station and Meals on Wheels and remains active in the Copeland Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.

When he’s not managing the business or serving the community, he can usually be found volunteering at his church or tinkering with a project around the house.

He strives to live with integrity and serve others.

He also lives, obviously, in East Bend, NC, with his wife and two dogs.

The Rest of the B-Team

Wes Brewer

Business & Customer Support

Wes may not have the formal degrees his parents do, but his passion for learning runs just as deep.

His curiosity drives him to explore philosophy, entrepreneurship, and finance, always looking for ways to improve and grow in both life and business.

A dedicated homeschooling parent, Wes has taught his 16-year-old son since second grade, an experience he considers one of the most rewarding, yet challenging parts of his life.

When he’s not working on the business, he’s spending time with his son, writing nonfiction, or unwinding with a game of Rocket League.

He lives in Conway, SC, with his family, which includes a dog and a cat.

And he absolutely loves making people happy.

Caleb Brewer

Business Assistant

Caleb is the kindest and most exceptionally well-behaved kid you’ll ever meet.

He helps out with business operations part-time, always bringing a quiet but friendly presence and a sarcastic sense of humor that keeps things interesting.

He decided to be homeschooled and has loved (mostly) every second of it. When he’s not shipping out a package, he loves spending time with his best friend Jesse. He’s a big fan of Dragon Ball and enjoys reading a good book, especially manga. He also owns an impressive anime collection.

Like most kids, he’s usually playing Roblox or watching YouTube in his free time. He’s also talented with computers and spends plenty of time torturing his dad with surprise martial arts moves—a skill he, unfortunately, hasn’t quite perfected yet.

He lives in Conway, SC, with his family, which, obviously, includes a dog and a cat.

Pencil Man

The Official Logo

And last but not least…

Pencil Man is always ready to bring a little fun, encouragement, and positivity to testing!

With his bright smile, trusty pencil, and finger pointing upward, he’s here to remind students that learning is something to celebrate—not stress over.

Not everyone may love him, and that’s okay! Some see him as just a friendly character, while others may find meaning in his upward gesture.

No matter how you see him, he’s here to brighten your day and make testing feel a little less intimidating!

Pencil Man lives somewhere in the digital world, measuring things that probably don’t exist.

Or maybe he’s a ruler in a digital kingdom?
